Post Php...and MySQL? • Posted: Mon Sep 08, 2008 9:06 pm
I'm completely lost. Before DayDreamGraphics.com switched owners and was completely revamped (which caused the loss of the tutorials section -_-), I was trying to learn some basic php. One of the last things I read about was a script that said something about needing access for something through MySQL...and I'm pretty sure that I also saw something about an Apache server? I'm SO lost. The only thing that I ever managed to do was embed pages with external .txt files, which was basically just as easy as doing style sheet includes.
Anyway, could someone explain the process of communicating with MySQL (or whatever you do with it...now that I think about it, it might have been something like phpMyAdmin...) even if it's just a very brief overview?

Unless you are writing a forum software or your own CMS, you really don't need to know too much about that.

First, are you building a webpage or is this for something else?

I really can't remember what the script was for...I probably was wanting to have a blog with my own chatboard/shoutbox/whatever.

Ah. Well for some programs, etc this forum, you need to store alot of variables, hence you would use a mySQL database to do so. phpmyadmin is just a high level way to administrate said mySQL.

-_- It's hopeless.
Maybe someday I'll just take a class on it :P
Oh well, I've pretty much grown out of the idea of wanting a blog, anyway.
Besides, I'd be spending too much time on here, and my little tagboard would be abandoned =]
