Casey Johnston over at Ars Technica wrote up an informative bit on how to start from scratch and build your own computer. I thought I'd share this for anyone who is remotely interested in building your own computer, or even just trying to get familiar with your hardware.

Kind of hand-in-hand, Ars comes up with it's annual System Builder's guide for the year: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/guides/2 ... r-2011.ars

Inside is a handy/quick guide to get you started in the places you're looking for.

They make a guide for doing that, when I did it I was on my own with only my tech knowledge to help me. Though the only real hard part was figuring out how to use my external hard drive as an internal hard drive.

Like, there's a guide that came with something in your computer? Or was it a guide you found somewhere else? Also, you can usually youtube something along the phrase of "[manufacturer] [model] teardown" for an in-depth guide of making your external drive an internal. Note: this will not work with laptop-sized Western Digital drives anymore. The USB 3.0 connector is attached to the PCB on the drive. :/
