 Procrastination • Posted: Thu Feb 09, 2012 2:53 pm
*Is making me late* So, here I am making a topic about procrastination while procrastinating on my medieval paper on the Fall of Rome and Germanic Societies. Yes, such an inspiring story. So, how you guys doing? I mean, how do you guys deal with procrastination? How much do you do it, etc. (Also, feel free to post if you are procrastinating...)

All the time. I can't think of any assignment at any point of my education that I've done 'early' enough to warrant not worrying about the due date. I think the best I've ever done is hammer out a few essays 2 nights before they're due and never look back. I'd probably be better off if I learned how to not procrastinate...

I feel I end up with a procrastinatory trickle down effect. Say I need to write an essay. I want to put it off, so I'll go to play a game. I feel bad about this though, so I put that off too, maybe by trying to draw something, lessen the guilt. That's hard though, so I put off this secondary activity in lieu of, perhaps, balancing the stuff on my desk in intricate patterns, and assuring myself that once I work myself back up the ladder of importance, I'll actually be able to get something done.
This often tends not to be the case. >_>
I find if I'm putting something off, the best way to deal with it is simply stop putting it off. If I'm not writing my essay, I should stop not doing that and just do it. Psych myself up or something. Also scheduled work times. >_>

It depends on the project and on how I'm feeling. There are two major projects that I have to do in Jr. Lit. One of them is doing this big research project on a word. I got stuck with the word "jealous" ...meh. Well, it's going on for weeks 'cause Mrs. Nelson has a lot of things we have to do with it, like interview people about it, find it in the Bible, find a poem about it, etc. I'm almost done, even though we have like...4 more weeks to work on getting all the research done. The other project is reading through the Scarlet Letter. I'm enjoying the book, it's just that I'm busy working on my research project and I want free time to play more SS and OoT 3D.

I should change the second option. At some point...maybe like...in a few days. Also, yeah, I think what really got me mad last semester was I wanted to play SS instead of Chemistry. I did Chemistry. In the end, I was happy with that (yes one of the few classes I never actually procrastinated in). It made the wait for finishing and seeing the end so much better. So, just think, it's like eating that grand fancy meal quickly versus enjoying it.

I swear you stole that analogy from Egoraptor.
Also I learned Procrastinating on your Drawing assignment will lead to my fineliner pens all dying when I need them most >.< Well all except for my 0.8 , But that one is too think to actually be useful to me...

No. I stole it from something older, I think. Trust me, I pick up sayings, I don't record where from though, but I do know it wasn't from that. That's why you need to cape your pens better.

I don't procrastinate. I choose to be late. In actuality, I have quite a mess around my computer area that needs cleaned up. I just wait for it to get the "right amount" of dirty so that I feel it's necessary to make it worth my while.

Examples of things I procrastinate on: - Difficult or boring objectives (ex. finishing up long papers, reading things I have no interest in, riding the bus for 2 hours to get to my favorite library). Projects are (eventually) finished up on time, reading is slow, and the third is put off until I deem the weather "good" and plan out a detour to pretzels and video games. - Sleeping. Surfing the web is far more entertaining. Until I realize how cool it is that I'm playing Sburb, flipping out over (older) Rose, Jade, and Dave for not answering then shortly meeting up with Dave in my hometown. (I now realize that I may have died there and ended up in a dreambubble.) Sleeping and Internet. How do I choose? - Last gauntlet of Cave Story. Yeah, it'll be done one day. When I feel like it. - Anything in which I'll spend most of the day shopping for shoes or clothes or wandering around Wal-mart for deals. Point me to the electronics aisle or bribe me with food or money. I'll keep quiet.

Things on which I'm currently procrastinating: -Reading an article -3 papers -Research things for Anthro -6 chapters of reading -Program tests and a program Those things will probably all get done on time, most of them within 24 hours of being due. Probably.

Actually, the two things I don't really procrastinate on, oddly enough, are exams and longer papers. I will start working on them weeks before they are due if I can. So, there. However, reading, heck yeah. Procrastinating on that is fun. But yes, this is a warning to you DL. Get your research done. Just do it, set a day beside for doing it even if it's like a day or two before it's due. Also, I love that chart. The thing is, that shouldn't be pain. That should be...laziness...xD

Well I don't procrasinate much, but from what I've heard, I should stop. I'm going into Honors Enlgish 10, and I've been given advice that I should never procrasinate in that class. I should right an essay on procrasination. I'll wright it in a few weeks or so. Maybe months when I'm supposed to write some random essay.
